Monthly Meetings

What to Expect

Each meeting consists of a regular routine that develops connection and safety so girls know what to expect and can participate more authentically. The once a month meetings are usually 2-2.5 hours long and include the following:

  • Welcome

  • Small Group lesson

  • Journal

  • Prayer

  • Worship

  • Craft

  • Snack

In some cases, parts of the meeting are moved around to accommodate the needs or pacing of the group, however, group leaders incorporate all aspects into their time with the girls knowing that God speaks to girls in different ways. All parts of a meeting reflect the theme and purpose of the lesson, even the snack!

Yearly Themes

The curriculum is written by ministry leaders with education degrees and/or educational backgrounds. The lessons incorporate several learning styles to enhance understanding and meet different interests. All themes center on finding our identity in Christ and looking to people in the Bible that represent living out that identity. All new groups begin with the Beauties Creed theme; then, leaders may choose a curriculum the following year based on their group interests and ages. Below you will find summaries of the curriculum and what grade levels they serve.

1. Beauties Creed

(All first-year groups)

We are beautiful, precious, priceless, promised and loved. God gives us an incredible identity in His word. Our identity from God is consistent, everlasting, and full of freedom. This curriculum dives into each facet of the Beauties Creed (statements of Biblical truth), which we recite and want to remember. Each statement is rooted in God’s Word. Throughout the year girls learn where these truths from God are located in the Bible and how God speaks to us through His Word.

2. We are Royalty

(All grade levels)

In a culture where women were often less valued than property or sheep, God flips it all on its head. When God created women, He called them ezer. In Hebrew this means providing valuable life-saving help (other times it’s used in the Bible to reference God). We are not a side thought, we are a vital part of God’s plan. All throughout the Bible, God elevates the status and importance of women. This year we will meet women of the Old Testament and New Testament, amazing role models, who exhibit the attributes of what it means to be God’s princess and live out the identity God has for them: Strong, beautiful, intelligent, risk-taker, compassionate, brave, and more!

3. Fruit of the Spirit

(All grade levels)

When we choose to put Christ in the center of our lives and follow Him, God promises that we will bear much fruit. This fruit is the life-giving “fruit of the Spirit”. Girls will learn about the third facet of the Trinity: God’s Holy Spirit, its role in God’s plan and how it is active in our lives.  The theme highlights Galatians 5:22-23 and the promises of  love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. All which flow from our lives when we live out our identity in Christ.

4. React vs. Respond

(4th grade and up)

We are created in God’s image, which means we are relational and experience strong emotions. However, we are not perfect or Holy like God.  We often struggle with how we approach our feelings. Recommended for upper grade levels, this theme tackles how we live out our identity in Christ and walk with God when it comes to strong emotions of sadness, anger, jealousy.... Girls reflect and learn how they can be  intentional with their emotions instead of just reacting to the circumstances.

5. What to Wear-Armor of God

(All grade levels)

What we wear sends a message and serves a purpose. Jesus calls his people to live a life differently; therefore, we must dress our spirits accordingly. Thankfully, God gives us guidance in what that looks like and He is the one that equips us with the attire. This theme explores what the apostle Paul describes as “wearing the Armor of God”. Line by line, the girls will learn what they can “wear” as followers of Jesus from Ephesians 6:10-18 to reflect their identity in Him.

6. Investigating My Faith

(5/6th-8th grade) *coming 2022-2023*

Jeremiah 17:7 “But blessed is the one who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence is in him."

When we have confidence in what is true of God: who He Is, His character, His redemptive plan, and how He communicates it with humanity, we can live in confidence in who He says we are-this is our identity in Christ. This theme addresses how questions can help us grow in our faith not further from it, especially when we seek answers from the Bible, scholars and pastors who have a strong foundation in theology, history, and the 1st century world. Girls will learn how we know the Bible is reliable and trustworthy, they will investigate who Jesus said He was, and they will address other tough questions that often come to mind as we get older. In addition, girls will come away with reliable resources they can explore and revisit as they want to learn more. God calls us “to love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ (Matthew 22:37 NLT), and this theme definitely engages the minds of our Beauties!

7. Beyond Beauties

(7th and/or 8th graders) *coming 2023-2024*

Eighth grade is the last year of Beauties and a year to develop valuable leadership skills that will carry the girls Beyond Beauties. It is important for 8th grade Beauties to graduate from the ministry with confidence that they can stand firm in who they are in Christ and be a leader in the world around them. We learn leadership best by looking at examples and by practicing. Jesus is our ultimate example of a good leader! Whether a girl has grown up in Beauties or is participating for the first time, the Beyond Beauties year will prepare them for a future opportunity to become a Beauties High School Mentor and assist Beauties leaders. This curriculum is designed to work in conjunction with a themed curriculum. Leaders will meet with their 8th grade girls outside of a regular Beauties meeting in order to talk and reflect about leadership and then plan the upcoming meeting together. 8th grade Beauties will have opportunities to lead one of the components of a Beauties meeting and will also assist their group leaders in preparation and clean-up. Girls that complete Beyond Beauties receive a special certificate that celebrates their completion and allows them to apply for Beauties mentorship.
